S&S Roofing & Building Limited is owned and run by two brothers, Tommy-Davey Stevens and Jordan Jay Stevens, from a base in Havant, Hampshire. Between them and a team of 6, they work daily on the housing stock of this stretch of the south coast — Victorian terraces, interwar and post-war semis, 1960s and 1970s estates, harbour-edge cottages and modern developments.

We help homeowners and landlords who have a roof that is leaking, ageing, storm damaged, or simply unknown to them — because nobody has been up there in twenty years. The recurring story is the same: a previous roofer patched a symptom, took the money, and the stain on the ceiling came back the following winter. We work the other way round. We find the cause, photograph it, price the fix that actually ends it, and put the guarantee in writing.

Our specialism is everything above the walls. Full strip-and-re-tile re-roofs, targeted roof repairs, flat roofs on extensions and garages, fascias, soffits and guttering, chimney repointing and flashing, hand-dressed leadwork, moss removal and roof cleaning, planned maintenance, photographic reports and drone surveys. We do not spread ourselves across trades we are not expert in.

We work across Havant, Emsworth, Rowlands Castle, Portsmouth, Southbourne, Southampton, Chichester and the wider Hampshire and West Sussex area, and we keep the phone on 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When a gale takes tiles off at two in the morning, an owner answers — an emergency call-out fee applies, starting at £50 and varying with travel distance, and you are told that on the call rather than discovering it on an invoice.

We inspect before we price

No roof is quoted from the pavement or from a satellite image. We get up there — or fly a drone over it from £250 where access is unsafe — and look at the actual covering, battens, flashings and gutters before a figure is written down.

You see the same evidence we do

Every inspection ends with a photographic report sent to you. You are looking at photographs of your own roof, not a roofer's description of it, when you decide whether the work is worth doing.

Fixed written price, agreed first

The quote is a fixed written price, itemised so you can see materials and labour separately. It does not move unless you ask us to change the scope of the work.

Guaranteed workmanship, in writing

We guarantee our workmanship. Cover varies by job type — a repair, a re-roof and a flat roof are not the same thing — so the exact guarantee is confirmed in writing alongside your quote rather than promised vaguely on a website.

We tell you when not to spend

If a roof has years left in it, we say so and quote for the repair instead of the replacement. A small fix done at the right time is the reason people call us again years later.

The site is left as we found it

Old materials go with us, gutters are cleared of debris created by the work, and the ground is swept before we leave. That is a standard, not a favour.
